The BISE Education Multan was established on 30 March 1968 under an Ordinance of Gov. of West Pakistan. In the beginning, its office was in Government Central Training College Lahore. It was shifted in Multan in the mid of June. In the beginning, Quetta, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Kallat, and Multan districts were working under Multan Board. Later on, Bahawalpur Board, DG Khan Board, Quetta, and Kalat Boards were separated from Multan Board and started working separately.

Now These days Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education working in each Big district. District Multan, District Khanewal, District Vehari, and District Lodhran are working together under Multan Board. It is responsible for facilitating all Multan Division regular and private students. It is also responsible for taking all Matriculation and intermediate annual exams and supplementary exams to Multan Division students. Students of 9th class to 12th class can take the examination under the Multan Board rule of regulation. The result of these classes declares as follows.

Every year approximately 250,000 students participate in the annual matriculation exam, and 140,000 students appear for the Intermediate annual exam. BISE Multan Board annually facilitates around 400,000 students, including supplementary exams. Annually 10% of students also increase under the BISE Education Multan examination. Multan Board is responsible for managing the exam process, compile the exam result of all these students, and also declare the result on time. The Multan Board is an independent Institute with the power to make rules itself. It does not take any financial support to Govt. or Semi Govt. agency. It generates its own fund’s trough examinations fees and other fees.

The Multan Board is an independent institute but working under Higher Education Department Govt. Punjab. The Chairman, Executive, Audit Officer, and DPE are appointed by Govt. Punjab on deputation of 3 years. Governors appoint Bs-16 and above officers. The chairman can appoint the Bs-5 to Bs-15 officers and Bs-1 to Bs-4 by the Secretary.
